Eligibility Criteria

• For BET: Degree in Biotechnology / Life Sciences or allied disciplines such as Biomedical, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Botany, Chemistry, Computational Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Zoology or any other allied areas of Biology / Life-Sciences.
• For GAT-B: Candidates Meeting the Minimum Eligibility criteria of Participating Institutions / Universities are eligible to apply for GAT-B 2026 entrance examination. Final Year Students can Also Apply Under the Result Awaited Category.
• National Testing Agency (NTA)  Rules Are Valid For Eligibility Criteria.

Exam Pattern

GAT-B

• Section A (10+2 level Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology): 60 Questions (Compulsory) – 60 Marks
• Section B (Bachelor’s level Biology, Life Sciences, Biotechnology): 60 out of 100 Questions – 180 Marks
• Total: 120 Questions – 240 Marks

BET

• Section A (General Science, Aptitude, Biotechnology): 50 Questions (Compulsory) – 150 Marks
• Section B (Specific Biotechnology areas): 50 out of 150 Questions – 150 Marks
• Total: 100 Questions – 300 Marks

NTA GAT-B / BET Exam 2026 is a national-level entrance examination conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. GAT-B is for admission to DBT-supported M.Sc./M.Tech/M.V.Sc. programmes in Biotechnology and allied areas while BET is for DBT-Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF).
